When tying, the half-Windsor is the gentleman’s knot of choice. Aim for isosceles, not equilateral.

When untying, please don’t wrench it apart!
A T&G tie will withstand an uncouth tug upon the tail better than most, but we can’t bring ourselves to recommend it. Rather untie as you would tie, but in the opposite direction.

During the Hundred Years’ War, the Croatian mercenary stood out for his smart neckwear. As the fashion took swift hold across Europe, it proved a short linguistic trek from Croat to Cravat.

The T&G Tie

A T&G tie is properly bias-cut, ensuring it retains its proper shape
after innumerable loosenings.

Made in UK, of silk – woven, printed or knitted. Hand-finished, naturally. The Thresher tie is a dashing 7.5 cm wide at the blade,
the Glenny a more conservative 8.5.

The lining carries one of the colours of the Peacock’s tail.

The two-part interlining is in two natural fibres, wool and cotton,
for a better knot and improved crease resistance.
