When tying, the half-Windsor is the gentleman’s knot of choice. Aim for isosceles, not equilateral.
When untying, please don’t wrench it apart!
A T&G tie will withstand an uncouth tug upon the tail better than most, but we can’t bring ourselves to recommend it. Rather untie as you would tie, but in the opposite direction.
